The winning Senior Photo for week 2 of our Facebook Contest was taken by Pepper Cherry Photo. This striking photo using great lighting technique got 198 votes! "He is a student athlete and goes to school in the mainland (we're in Hawaii) at the moment and came home for the Holidays. This was the boy's senior portraits and I guess you could say like a "coming of age" thing as well. The vision for our shoot was something on the beach celebrating his family's culture as they are Hawaiian. The location was in what us islanders call "country" - a small town on the west side of the island of Oahu, city is Waianae. The shot was taken using off camera lighting right before sundown."
The winner of the first round of our photography contest was Christina Ezell. Her adorable photo captured our hearts and made our seasons a bit more bright. Here’s what she has to say about her winning photo: "I shot little Kendall in my home studio in Algonquin, IL. For this session, I used my Canon EOS 7D and my Canon EF 28 mm. f1.8 lens, at f/2.5, 1/200 second, ISO 160. I shot 8 month old Kendall in natural light with one supplemental light source bouncing of the ceiling. I made some minor adjustments in Lightroom 4. This was at the end of the session and even though I had several of Kendall looking straight at me, I loved her sincere and curious face in
Many years ago before my wife and I had kids, I was the photographer that would work all the way to 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Yes, I too would have family over for the holidays. See, my family is spread out over Texas, so the closest family member is still a 10-hour drive. Although we would get together, I was still working and trying to make every client happy. Later, after having my daughter, then followed by my son, I started to slow down. Growing in my own Catholic life, I soon was shown through my kids lives that surviving Christmas as a photographer meant getting others to plan ahead because the week of Christmas is both, in a religious view, a time
